East Carolina is a team that is very young on the offensive side of the ball. Yes, the Pirates do have some players that have managed to look decent in the past, but now the Pirates have more underclassmen on the offense than what they have upper classmen. What else does not help the Pirates is they only have 4 returning starters on the offensive side of the ball and that can make it very difficult to lock down a good rhythm.
The Pirates defense returns largely intact. However, that may not be the best news for the Pirates fans as the defense was carved up last year. In fact, the Pirates defense finished 101st in total yardage allowed last year by a defense and that is not the best way to play defense on the year.

With only 4 starters coming back to the offense the Wolfpack will start to look for a way to get the team to work together. The good news is the Wolfpack does have the right side of the line already figured out and one of the running back spots as well. The Wolfpack could have a small quarterback controversy on their hands as well, but the favorite to win out is Matthew McKay a sophomore.
Defensively the Wolfpack look like they could be in good shape. The Wolfpack are bringing back 6 starters on the season.
