TV: CBSSN
Latest Odds : PUR -9 Total 58.5

On Friday August 30, the Purdue Boilermakers visit Mackay Stadium in Reno, Nevada to play the Nevada Wolf Pack in the opening game of the 2018 college football regular season for both.

Elijah Sindelar will start at quarterback for Purdue. Sindelar is big at 6’4” and has a strong arm being a former pitcher. The Boilermakers have Rondale Moore their sensational wide receiver returning and Brycen Hopkins is a great blocking tight end with good hands. Defensively, the Boilermakers will look to lineman Lorenzo Neal and linebacker Markus Bailey who led Purdue in tackles last season with 115. The running game will be led Moore and Zander Horvath and Tario Fuller will battle for carries.

Nevada’s big question mark starting the season is at quarterback. Cristian Solono was lost to a broken hand. That leaves either Florida transfer Malik Henry or freshman Carson Strong. Toa Taua returns as the top running back for Nevada. Taua averaged almost five yards per carry in 2018. The receiving corps is talented and tall. Romeo Doubs, Elijah Cooks, Cole Turner and Brendan O’Leary-Orange are the top receivers and range in height from 6’2” to 6’6”. Returning senior Kaleb Fossum led Nevada with 70 receptions last season.

Purdue’s Elijah Sindelar threw for just 283 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions as backup to David Blough, but will start this season. Tario Fuller is the leading rusher returning from last season with 34 yards, but returning wide receiver Rondale Moore was third in rushing with 213 yards and two touchdown to go with his team-leading 1,258 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns.

Cristian Solono was to be the starter this season but Malik Henry or Carson Strong will start until Solono, who last season threw for 200 yards and four interceptions, recovers from a hand injury. Toa Taua returns as starting running back. Taua led the Wolf Pack last season in rushing with 872 yards and six touchdowns last season. Kaleb Fossum is the leading receiver returning from last season. Fossum caught 70 passes for 734 yards and 1 touchdown in 2018.

Free Betting Pick: Purdue Boilermakers -9

Purdue lost its star quarterback from last season but its top playmaker Rondale Moore is back and with Moore the Boilermakers are a threat to score from anywhere on the field. Nevada lost starting quarterback Cristian Solono to a hand injury and will have to rely on talented running back Toa Taua for most of their offense to begin the season. Take the Boilermakers to cover on the road against a work-in-progress Nevada offense. Final Score Prediction, Purdue Boilermakers win and cover ATS 34-17
