The Minnesota Timberwolves will play in their 2nd game of their back to back slate as they will travel to New Orleans on Friday to take on the Pelicans. Minnesota will be on the road against the Orlando Magic on Thursday which will be the 2nd consecutive road game. The Timberwolves last played on the road against the Memphis Grizzlies on 2/5 where they lost at the buzzer 108-106. Karl-Anthony Towns was able to lead the way with a double-double with 26 points and 18 rebounds, while newly acquired Dario Saric was able to contribute 22 points and 7 rebounds off the bench. This will be the final game of the short 3 game road trip as they will be at home for 2 games next week.

The Pelicans last played on Wednesday against the Chicago Bulls where they won 125-120. Julius Randle was able to have a solid game off the bench for the Pelicans as he was able to contribute 31 points and 7 rebounds, while their top guard Jrue Holiday recorded a double-double with 18 points and 11 assists. The Pelicans didn’t trade away all-star Anthony Davis at the deadlines, but they will be moving forward without the services of forward Nikola Mirotic who was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks. The Pelicans will be on the road in their next matchup before returning home for a 2-game span.

Karl-Anthony Towns leads the Timberwolves in scoring and rebounds as he averages 22.8 PPG and 12.2 RPG. Minnesota has been looking for consistent production out of their 2nd young piece in Andrew Wiggins as the former Duke Blue Devil forward is averaging 17.7 PPG and 4.6 RPG. The Timberwolves have been average behind the 3-point line as they are averaging 34.8% which ranks 18th in the NBA but they have been even worse from the field as they are averaging 44.8 % which is good for 23rd in the league.

The New Orleans Pelicans have been led by Anthony Davis throughout the season as he averages 29.3 PPG and 13.3 RPG, but he is still out with an injury. Jrue Holiday has stepped up in the absence of Davis as he is averaging 20.9 PPG and 8 APG. Julius Randle has continued to prove he is an important piece off the bench as he is averaging just shy of a double-double with 20.1 PPG and 9.3 RPG. The Pelicans are one of the top scoring teams in the NBA as they are averaging 48% from the field which is good for 3rd in the league. They also rank 3rd in the NBA in PPG as they score an average of 116.2 per game.

Free Betting Pick: Minnesota Timberwolves

Minnesota is in desperate need of a win as they have lost 6 of their last 10 and given the state of the New Orleans franchise over the last few weeks, I give the edge to the better team in the Timberwolves. Without Anthony Davis down low, the Pelicans will need to throw a couple of different people at Karl-Anthony Towns but that is a hard task for anyone. The Timberwolves are able to throw more talent on the floor at this point and I think we see that in this one. Final Score, Minnesota Timberwolves win 116-110.
