The Minnesota Vikings will open their 2022 NFL preseason with a visit to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. Minnesota will play without its starting quarterback Kirk Cousins who tested positive for covid-19. Cousins must isolate for 5 days and will not travel with the club. Backup quarterbacks Kellen Mond and Sean Mannion will share duties on Sunday against the Raiders.
Minnesota running back Dalvin Cook is not expected to play as the Vikings do not want to risk injuring their top rusher and do not expect to see much of wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen. On defense, the Vikings will play some regulars such as defensive ends Armon Watts and Dalvin Tomlinson as well as linebackers Eric Kendricks, Danielle Hunter and Za'darius Smith.

The Las Vegas Raiders added one of the best playmakers and wide receivers in the NFL during the offseason in Davante Adams. Las Vegas now has Hunter Renfrow, a pro bowl slot receiver, and tight end Darren Waller, who is a former pro bowler. The Raiders also have Josh Jacobs, a highly talented running back and former Pro Bowl player, not to mention a strong-armed quarterback in Derek Carr.
However, several of these players won't see any action on Sunday in the opening game of the preseason for Las Vegas. The offensive line is one of the most important units of the team that coaches are taking a look at. Las Vegas used their first two picks in the draft for lineman taking Dylan Parham and Thayer Munford Jr. However, nothing more was done to the line and coaches will be focusing on filling holes during the preseason.
